A restorative & inclusive travel platform

How often do you need
a holiday from
the holiday you've just been on?

The wellness industry sells restoration as a feeling. The Calm Travel Edit measures it as evidence — does this destination actually reach your nervous system, or is it just beautiful?

The concept

Restoration,
measured.

"Burnout is an environmental failure, not a personal one."

The Calm Travel Edit is built on a single conviction: the science does not stop at the building threshold. It travels. It walks through airports, sits in transfer cars, breathes hotel air, sleeps in unfamiliar rooms.

We pursue two editorial questions in every destination we visit: is this actually restorative, or just beautiful? And who is it restorative for?

The answers are scored, not felt. Peer-reviewable, not anecdotal. Inclusive by design.

The instrument

Three indices. One nervous system.

Our proprietary regulation index — and its two companion frames — score how a place acts on the body. Each indicator carries a definition, an observable marker, and a sensed marker.

Travel

Travel Regulation Index

35 indicators across seven journey stages and five regulation lenses. The instrument we take into the field — Croatia, Helsinki, and onwards — to read a destination before, during and after.

Space

Spatial Regulation Index

38 indicators across seven domains for the physical environment itself: light, sound, scent, ergonomics, threshold, biophilia. Used in hospitality consultancy.

Children

Children's Regulation Index

38 indicators built around neurodivergent and family traveller profiles — Emese's specialism. Because restoration that excludes is not restoration.

The method

A decode-and-rebuild loop.

Field trial. Evidence. Editorial. Recreation. Then again.

  1. Step 1

    Travel

to scored destinations as field trials of the regulation index.

  2. Step 2

    Harvest

physiological and sensory evidence — HRV, cortisol, daily subjective scoring.

  3. Step 3

    Publish

editorial features and Destination Reports with indicator-level transparency.

  4. Step 4

    Rebuild

the restorative conditions at Baston Stables and The Knockholt Retreat.
